I have just finished
listening to the second episode of the murmur podcast and I felt I
wanted to contribute some of my favorite artist and why not bring you
something that you perhaps have never heard about some of my favorite
swedish artists that hasn´t made it big in the states yet, so if you
went here to find some text about Abba, Roxette or perhaps Ace of
Base then sorry you have taken a wrong turn somewhere on the way, in
this article you will find something about some swedish indie
artists.

A swedish popsinger from
the north of Sweden, who´s real name is Annika Norlin. Here artist
name she got after a school year in the states where they had a taxi
service because of the crimes that were committed and the taxi
service always greeted here when she called with ?Hello Saferide?.
She released her first album 2005 but she didn´t really get
mainstream success until she released a full length album in Swedish,
she did this under the name ?Säkert?. She was awarded with three
swedish grammies most notable best writter, she has also won several
other awards and scholarship from the lyrics she has written.
My recommendation for you
to get started is with the song ?My best friend? from the album
?Introducing.... Hello Saferide? and if you get more daring and
doesn´t mind listening to the swedish language do try out something
from ?Säkert?.

A swedish indierockartist
from the westcoast of sweden, from the second largest city actually
Gothenburg. Gothenburg was and perhaps still is the place to be if
you were in to indie rock music in Sweden. He started his music
career as a background vocalist behind one of the most popular
swedish artist today Håkan Hellström but later went on and spread
his own wings. He is most known for the energy he produces when he is
on the stage, 2007 he was awarded from the the swedish national radio
as the best male artist in sweden and 2008 he was awarded the best
live artist.
The first step in to the
world that is Timo Räisinen is ?Fear No Darkness, Promised child?
from the album ?I´m Indian? which were released in 2006.

The last artist for the
day is actually an artist which actually is signed to an american
label and that label is ?Secretly Canadian? Jens Lekman is also
born on the westcoast of Sweden also him is from the city of
Gothenburg. His major breakthrough
came thanks to the internet and how
his music was spread trough all the tubes that is the internet. He is
well known for his love of the ukulele and is sampling from
orchestras in his music.
My tip for you to listen
to ?A postcard to Nina? from the album Night falls over Kortedala
from 2007. The video is from a live concert where his guitar stopped
working so he did it acoustic on his ukulele.

I love Hello Saferide. Just a wonderfully poppy sound. The "High School Stalker" song was also very funny and sweet at the same time.
Oh my stars and garters, you don't know what you have done to my poor over saturated ipod. I have such a soft spot for swedish music, even the lamer electronic pop stuff. I have to check this stuff out as soon as I'm home!

Gothenburg is also home to the melodic death metal genre. Sweden's a good place for music because the arts are government-funded there.
