What are the categories for?
When there's a lot of information, we've found its best to provide a base level of categorization to make it easier for you to find the content you like. So we've selected a few general categories to have content fall under. These are categories that we've found interesting and encompass the kind of content we're looking to read about, and we hope you agree.
Can I write content that applies to multiple categories?
Totally! We understand that your article about the music in Grand Theft Auto IV could apply to both Music and Technology, so go ahead and mark them both down. We do limit you to 3 categories though.
What are "tags"?
Tags are a way that you can be more specific about your content to help people find them. When creating content, think of several keywords that describe your article. For example, a piece of content about Star Wars may have the tags "Star Wars, Science Fiction, George Lucas” etc. We keep pretty close track of the tags used and we'll make recommendations as you type. You don't have to use the tags we recommend, but if you find a match, use it! It will only help people find your content easier.
What are those curved lines next to pieces of content?
That's our rating system! You might notice they're also in our logo. We've provided a very simple way to rate content. 3 lines means this is a great piece of content, zero lines means its awful and I'm sure you can guess what the lines inbetween mean. Your ratings get averaged with the rest of the Murmur users and that drives the overall rating of a piece of content, as well as factors into that piece of content's popularity.
